Classic rock is a term that grew out of a radio format called AOR (Album Oriented Rock), and generally refers to rock music produced between 1964-75. Here are some tunes that most fans agree are indeed classics.

“I Want To Hold Your Hand’ The Beatles, 1964: With its jangly guitars, harmonizing vocals and pop lyrics, this no-frills rocker proves that sometimes simple is best. Considered to have launched the British Invasion.

“(I Can-t Get No) Satisfaction’ Rolling Stones, 1965: The first 1 worldwide hit by Jagger/Richards yielded a song that defined the 60s. Keith Richards- distinctive guitar riffs have been featured on many film soundtracks.

“My Generation’ The Who, 1965: Some people cite the Pete Townshend song as a forerunner of 70s punk rock. That-s understandable, given the song-s raw, visceral sound.

“Stairway To Heaven’ Led Zeppelin, 1971: As the song veers from the ethereal to the bombastic, fans can never seem to get enough of it. Almost always tops of any list of classic rock songs.

“Born To Run’ Bruce Springsteen, 1975: The Boss adapted Phil Spector-s Wall of Sound technique to produce a song (and album) that combines raw rock energy, complex storytelling, and lush orchestrations in one slick package.
